Mac Celebrity Cribs – Episode 1

This is the kind of crap I have time to do while Jon is busy actually putting the podcast together. What a lot of people don’t know is that he actually does my voice, too. I sit at home in the dark watching cartoons and drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon and he does everything.

A note about Grit

Hundreds of people have emailed in (which is odd, since we don’t have an email link up yet) to ask about my reference to “Grit” in Episode 1. Grit, for those of you who don’t know, is America’s foremost national newspaper for rural communities and was actually founded by my great great grandfather, Dietrick Lamade. If you don’t believe me, I invite you to look at the picture on Wikipedia closely. You will see an uncanny resemblance. Average height. Slender. Hirsute. Oh, yes, we are related.

Now, you might think it a waste of time to place a “Help Wanted” ad for a podcast in a print publication aimed at rural communities, but you’d be wrong yet again, leading us to wonder aloud how you can bear to look at yourself in the mirror every morning.

With the decline of farming in recent years as the great engine that has fueled this nation, our rural communities are brimming with young talent, full of vim and vigor, eager to make a contribution, with nothing to do but ransack the local Rite Aid for raw materials for their meth labs. An earlier generation was told “Go west, young man!” But now the cry is “Start podcasting, you meth-addled, corn-shucking cracker!” Finally, their voices will be heard in a forum other than that of Republican politics.

Although, ironically, not on this podcast, because I went with a middle aged guy from an urban community instead. Mostly because I’m just comfortable with that demographic.
